Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Hello
Just some questions about the new carpet.
I saw a new one for your Alliance.
Many members want or need to change it.
I have some questions:
1) Where did you by it?
2) Did you find the same color of the Renault models for ours alliance?
3) How much for this new carpet?
4) It is exactly the same design and form or did you need some modifications.
Thank you very much for answers.
Regards and great Job
Eduardo

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Eduardo, i bought them on ebay, $163.80, free shipping to U.S. They advertise worldwide shipping.
As for the design and form, they are molded to the correct shape, however, i have not installed it yet, i will have to cut holes for the shifter, park brake handle and seat mountings.
The color is very close, perhaps a shade darker, the picture is a piece from the original carpet clipped to the new one, and the box it was shipped in with their information.

cvslawrence a écrit :The marker lights are part #77.01.349.089, and yes they are a direct fit.
interesting...
How did you find this part number ?
I was looking at Gerard's Alliance Hatchback last week end and the (original) marker lights look similar....

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Cyril, i found them on ebay, they came from Cyprus. they where advertised to fit Alpine, A310, Renault 9 11 & 18. they looked like an exact fit, so i took a chance and ordered them. $16.99 for 2 plus shipping.
I typed in Renault lights on ebay. Hope this helps!

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Cyrille, that is a spacer plate i made to mount the throttle body off a 2.5L Jeep engine on the 1.7L Renault engine. The base of the Jeep t-b is shorter, and the throttle link would rub the intake manifold without the spacer.

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Here are some pics inspired by Francois and Cyrille's pics here on RACP.
Brenda's car is now complete, only a few minor details and some more testing (pleasure drives) by me, and i will turn her over to Brenda to drive daily.
The car runs and drives like a new car, and has more "pep" than ever!
I am very pleased with my efforts and she has rewarded me with near flawless performance
Demands on my time have not allowed me to post some of the pics of the final assembly work, but i thought you would enjoy seeing the finished car.
I will try to post more pics when time allows!
Geoffrey

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
A few more since time allows.
This is just after our first test drive, the car was not quite complete, notice there are no wiper arms, and you may notice the red boot cover in these pics, and the grey boot cover in the other pics.
Which one do you think looks better?

Very nice pictures, and also very nice car !!!
I am happy to see that Brenda is finished and can run !
I have got a red boot cover on my Alliance; I prefer also this one!
If you want to sale the grey one, I am sure there are some RACP members who want to buy it...

It shall be red then!
I will save the grey one for my car, unless the black one on ebay comes down on his price

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
If there is a red one for sale anywhere, I may be interested as my car came with none.
Also I have a cousin who is in the business and can custom make one for me but I would need to have the exact dimensions (if someone has ever done that before)

Brenda is a lucky women with a brand new Alliance ! All my congratulations to the rebuilder also.
I would like to know what can be the reactions of other drivers when they see an Alliance on the US roads ...

Re : Rebuilding Brenda's 1985 Alliance DL
Thank you all for the compliments, it really has been a fun project!
Gerard, most people don't know what kind of car it is, i make them guess .
When i tell them it is a Renault, they have to stop and think, "oh yeah, i remember them!"
We have had many compliments, every one that sees it thinks it is a great little car, and comment on how nice it turned out.
Over here in the states we have a drive in restaurant named Sonic Drive Inn, they have a classic car night on fridays, and we will participate in that, i will take some pics and post them up here.
Now, it is time to get started on the restoration of my black 86 model, with all my practice doing Brenda's car, mine should take shape in good time!
